Our baseball community hit it out of the park. We are wowed, honored and moved to have Team Ewan on jerseys.

Ewan’s final week, I remember Ewan waking up long enough to talk with his baseball coaches. His head coach knelt down and quietly apologized for the time that he accidentally hit Ewan with the ball. Ewan said, “You also hit your son.”

No one was expecting that to come out of Ewan’s mouth. That story makes us laugh and gives us a little comfort. I can say with certainty that Ewan took fond and funny baseball memories with him to the grave. What a gift.

Dear MI Little League Families,

As the days get longer and the sun tries to melt the stubborn piles of snow still left behind, we begin to look forward to a new baseball/softball season. A time when the kids come back together with their friends to play the game that they love.

Opening day is scheduled for May 4th 2019 and will be a celebration of baseball, family, and the kids that make this sport so much fun.

This year we are honored to have “Team Ewan” printed on the players’ jerseys.  This is in memory of a very special MI Little League baseball player named Ewan Lill who lost his battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia last May. Ewan’s mother shared how proud Ewan was to play baseball and that he loved his teammates. Ewan truly represents the spirit of the Little League motto, “Courage, Character and Loyalty”.

Ewan’s family has established the Team Ewan Guildin his memory. The guild aims to help fund the High-Risk Leukemia program which will bring better therapies to kids to improve care and save lives. To learn more about the guild visit: https://giveto.seattlechildrens.org/teamewanguild.

Please take the opportunity to speak to your players about Ewan and how as a Little League community we are honoring him this season.

This year we are all part of one big team, Team Ewan!

Sincerely,

MI Little League Board

Courage, Character and Loyalty
